The Bruceb.com Archives
My favorite bit of trivia: I registered the domain name bruceb.com on September 11, 1997, exactly four days before the name google.com was registered.
Some people believe Google has done more with its domain name than I have done with mine. They are tiny, bitter people. Pay them no heed.
Thanks to the Wayback Machine, we can go back in time. Click on the images if you have a morbid curiosity to see them in more detail.
1999
The formatting isn't quite right but this certainly catches the spirit of my first attempt to write a web page. Click on the image and you'll find it keeps going for rather a long way - scrolling was still fashionable then.
I have fond memories of the warning on the bottom of the page in 1999:
WARNING
When printed, these pages will attract every other piece of matter in the universe, including the pages of other people and companies, with a force proportional to the product of the masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them.
2000
The home page was slimmed down in 2000, but continued to list these specialties:
Bugs, viruses, hard disk crashes, system hangs, program freezes, general protection faults, RAM errors, damaged files, lost clusters, dead pixels, corrupt data, power failures, famine, plague and pestilence . . .
2001
The color scheme was chosen ten years ago!
2008
Flirting with 3D buttons and tabs in 2008, and the first appearance of the "Remote Support" button that transformed the consulting world.
2009-2011
The most recent design lasted for several years. Click on the images for a reminder of what things looked like until August 2011 on the home page and the favorites page.
